September 2 - 5

Happy Labor Day!
First Week & Daily Procedures: We had an exciting and successful first week of school! It's been wonderful getting to know your child and learning procedures to help build a stronger classroom community! Each student should have a "good fit" book in his or her backpack. 4th graders are encouraged to read for 20 minutes or more at home each night and bring their home folders back and forth between home & school daily. They should be explaining their bookmark to you and asking you to initial them nightly after they read too. This is a wonderful way to continue the conversation with your child about what is needed for school each day.
Supplies: Thank you for the classroom donations! We have a long year, and your kindness is appreciated. Currently, we are all set on supplies! Thank you for sending a snack and water bottle each day. I have added a safe food list at the bottom. If you would like to send in fruit, vegetables, or anything from the list for kids to have if they forget their snack, I would appreciate it. These items would also be awesome to send in for student birthdays, since all kids can have them. Thanks for your help to keep everyone safe & healthy!
The Best Day Photo: Please send me a photo of your child doing what he or she loves so I can add it to our bulletin board.
NWEA: Testing will begin on Tuesday, September 9th. Students will take the NWEA in math and reading. We will begin testing each day at 9:00. We hope all testing is completed by the end of the week. Please consider not scheduling appointments if possible. Students can bring in gum or mints to have during the test. The results from the tests are beneficial for our teacher team to use to get to know your child as a learner and begin to set learning goals.
